Il portavoce del Dipartimento di Stato americano Matthew Miller durante un briefing con la stampa, tra le altre cose, ha dichiarato:

[…] Ukraine does not need our permission to strike back against Russian targets. They are a sovereign country and can use the weapons that they build on their own, of which are many, if you look at the programs that they have put in place over the last year. And then when you look at the weapons that we have provided to them, we’ve made clear that they can use them to strike back against Russian targets across the border that are launching attacks.

Come avrei voluto interpretare io la suddetta dichiarazione: «stiamo organizzando la produzione degli armamenti necessari direttamente sul territorio ucraino». Ehm… ok, è una cosa che potrebbe anche avere senso, ma quanto tempo ci vorrà per organizzarla (se dovesse essere vero, ovviamente)?
Allo stesso tempo, mi sembra molto più realistico supporre che fino alla inaugurazione del nuovo (nuova?) presidente statunitense l’Ucraina dovrà resistere senza gli aiuti americani: Biden vorrà chiudere la propria carriera politica con qualche soluzione realizzabile in poco tempo, mentre Harris si concentra sugli argomenti più cari ai cittadini americani. Miller, dunque, lo ha fatto capire in un modo abbastanza «diplomatico».
