{"id":734,"date":"2026-02-17T15:38:43","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/en\/?page_id=734"},"modified":"2026-02-17T15:38:44","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:38:44","slug":"caviaga2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/en\/travel\/caviaga2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Caviaga, 16 December 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"fotka1\"><\/a>Could there be&nbsp;anything of&nbsp;interest in&nbsp;a&nbsp;village of&nbsp;about six hundred inhabitants?<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga1.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka2\"><\/a>As&nbsp;in&nbsp;the rest of&nbsp;Italy, there will most likely be&nbsp;a&nbsp;church&nbsp;&mdash; more or&nbsp;less attractive, and very often well maintained.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga2.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"the church of San Giacomo Maggiore Apostolo in Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka3\"><\/a>There may be&nbsp;a&nbsp;curious old civic building, though not necessarily restored.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga3.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"the center of Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka4\"><\/a>There will probably be&nbsp;a&nbsp;cemetery with some original features. It&nbsp;is&nbsp;not only about the headstones: in&nbsp;general, I&nbsp;like Italian cemeteries because they are orderly, clean, and aesthetically pleasing.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga4.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"the cemetery of Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka5\"><\/a>There might also be&nbsp;a&nbsp;bench&nbsp;&mdash; perhaps even an&nbsp;attractive and slightly original one.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga5.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka6\"><\/a>There could be&nbsp;a&nbsp;sports ground as&nbsp;well, in&nbsp;many cases clearly abandoned for years.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga6.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"football pitch in Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka7\"><\/a>An&nbsp;interurban bus stop will be&nbsp;present in&nbsp;99% of&nbsp;cases because, as&nbsp;you may already have guessed, one has to&nbsp;go&nbsp;elsewhere to&nbsp;reach larger towns and find at&nbsp;least a&nbsp;trace of&nbsp;meaningful and interesting life.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga7.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"the intercity bus stop in Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka8\"><\/a>Meanwhile, in&nbsp;small villages, the councillor responsible for urban planning may publicly display his affection for one of&nbsp;the well-known football clubs.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga8.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Caviaga\"><br \/>\n<a name=\"fotka9\"><\/a>But even the smallest and most apparently useless village in&nbsp;the world must have its own source of&nbsp;pride&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugigufo.net\/travelfoto\/caviaga2017\/caviaga9.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"the commemorative plaque dedicated to Enrico Mattei in Caviaga\"><br \/>\nThat said, I&nbsp;can think of&nbsp;a&nbsp;rather large country that boasts of&nbsp;its natural resources because it&nbsp;is&nbsp;no&nbsp;longer able to&nbsp;offer the world intellectual achievements worthy of&nbsp;even moderately universal attention. The whole world is&nbsp;much the same.<br \/>\nAnd that is&nbsp;all. I&nbsp;am&nbsp;not sure how many small villages you would need to&nbsp;visit before finding something genuinely interesting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The photographic account of a tourist visit to Caviaga on 16 December 2017.
